Your Refuge - Their Home

“I try to visit the Refuge about twice each week. When I am by myself, it’s a time for renewal. When I talk with visitors who come from everywhere, I am an ambassador for our Friends group and for the Refuge. People come in search of specific birds, animals, plant life, or insects. Mostly, they come to breathe. They want to take in the diversity or the salt marsh landscapes or just the quiet. Everyone comes because they love all of the space and openness that the St. Marks NWR offers them. “

“It doesn’t matter why you come to the St. Marks NWR. You can always take something away with you and leave it exactly as it was when you arrived. Enjoy it and breathe.”
